Connected 2008 DVD [Chinese Movies]

This movie stars Louis Koo and Barbie Hsu. So I wanna watch this too. So i'm guessing i Should Make a list of all the newbies i wanna enjoy this year. Ahah. =D

It's Hong Kong's turn to borrow from Hollywood. Director Benny Chan (Invisible Target) adapts the 2004 Hollywood film Cellular for Asian audiences with Connected, an entertaining and suspenseful thrill ride that proved popular with audiences during its 2008 theatrical release. Hong Kong's Louis Koo (Rob-B-Hood) stars as the everyman hero played in the Hollywood version by Chris Evans, and the filmmakers have added a romantic subplot by casting Taiwan's Barbie Xu (Meteor Garden) in the role originated by the older Kim Basinger. As the film's black-clad villain, Mainland actor Liu Ye (Blood Brothers) exudes over-the-top, entertaining menace. Rounding out the cast are Nick Cheung (Exiled) as a stalwart traffic cop, with Louis Fan (The Moss), Eddie Cheung (Election), TVB actor Wong Cho Lam and model Ankie Beilke in key supporting roles.
All it takes is one phone call to save a life. Kidnapped by a group of threatening men led by a mysterious mastermind (Liu Ye), engineer Grace Wong (Barbie Xu) is locked in a tool shed with a broken analog phone, which she repairs just enough to make an outgoing phone call. She's able to make a connection with a mobile phone belonging to Bob (Louis Koo), a harried debt collector who's hurrying to the airport to see off his estranged son. Bob is skeptical of Grace's plea for help, and a passing traffic cop (Nick Cheung) dismisses the call as a prank. But something in Bob's instincts tells him that she's speaking the truth, and he rushes to find Grace's young daughter, only to witness her being kidnapped by the unknown villains. Soon Bob is embroiled in a pulse-pounding race against all odds, with time running out and his mobile phone's battery running down. Can this irresponsible divorced father with a dead-end future become a hero and save the lives of those who depend on him?

[UPDATE]- Butterfly Lovers DVD Release

Release Date: 2008-12-12

Some stories are timeless, and Butterfly Lovers is one of them. Director Jingle Ma (Fly Me to Polaris) tackles one of the classics with his retelling of this tragic love story, which also served as the basis for the 1963 Shaw Brother's classic The Love Eterne and Tsui Hark's 1994 drama The Lovers. This new version is a clever alternate take on the story of ill-fated lovers Leung Shan Pak and Cheuk Ying Toi, and is given a martial arts spin thanks to the masterful fight choreography of Ching Siu Tung (Hero). Wu Chun of Taiwan boy band Fahrenheit and Charlene Choi of Hong Kong's Twins play the two young lovers, with a host of talent from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan joining them. Actor-singer Hu Ge plays Wu Chun's main romantic rival, with supporting roles filled out by martial artists Hung Yan Yan and Fan Siu Wong, Shaw Brothers legend Ti Lung and Taiwan singer-songwriter Harlem Yu.
Adorable Zhu Yan Gi (Charlene Choi) is female, but her father (Ti Lung) wants her to learn martial arts from the all-male Soul Ease Clan. To ensure her entry into the school, Yan Gi disguises herself as a male scholar, but her slight frame and sometimes ditzy nature make it hard for her to pass the rigorous tests. Luckily, she has an ally in the school's top student, handsome Liang Chun Shan (Wu Chun), who tutors Yan Gi and even nurses her back to health when she takes ill. The two innocently fall in love, but even knowledge of Yan Gi's true identity may not insure their happiness. Yan Gi's childhood friend Ma (Hu Ge) has long carried a torch for her, and is not above using violence and blackmail to insure that she becomes his wife. When Ma's treachery is revealed, Chun Shan has no choice but to use all that he's learned from the Soul Ease Clan to exact justice. But will it be too late to save Yan Gi from a tragic fate?

Butterfly Lovers 2008 Movie (remake)

Starring: Wu Chun, Charlene Choi, Hu Ge
synopsis:
This is the latest adaptation of the famous 17th century Chinese love story. Legend has it that once there was a golden couple living in the celestial sky who committed one of the gravest mistakes and was sent to live in the mortal world below. As their punishment, they were to fall in love madly with each other over ten lifetimes, only to end in disaster every time.

---I can't wait to watch this movie. Its got all my favorite actors. Ahah. But hopefully this remake is better than the one with nick and charlie.
